Meet Our New Executive Director: Maisha Cole

We’re thrilled to announce that Maisha Cole, currently the Deputy Director of the Law Center, will take over as Executive Director on June 1, 2024.

“I have always loved this organization,” said Maisha, “and I am passionate about early childhood education as a path to justice and great opportunity. When we support families, children and child care providers, we lay the foundation for a brighter future for everyone.”

Maisha has been connected to the Law Center since 2013, and became co-director of Legal and Legislative Advocacy in 2020, and Deputy Director in 2023. She has deep ties in the community, to legal aid programs, and among advocates. She is well-positioned to advance the Law Center’s mission to advocate, educate and litigate to make child care a civil right.

Maisha is passionate about combining her love of education and legal expertise to create better opportunities for children, families and child care professionals. Under her leadership, our community education and housing rights projects have grown to serve thousands of people each year.

Maisha received her JD degree from UC College of the Law (formerly Hastings) and her bachelor’s degree from University of California, Berkeley. She is an expert in disability, housing and estate planning law. She is also the proud parent of two amazing teenagers, which means she can handle anything.

Please join us in congratulating Maisha as our new ED.
